Netherrealm's Mortal Kombat

Ed Boon, John Vogel, John Tobias and Dan Forden got together and worked pretty hard in designing and producing the first Mortal Kombat game in 1991. This team of four laid foundation to a series of games that have reached the epitome of popularity. Every sequel has added a new feather to its hat.

Mortal Kombat has a history of gore and gruesome gameplay with the characters fighting each other with only one aim- Finish or kill your opponent and win the Mortal Kombat. The original Mortal Kombat had no story attached to it but with the rise of story based games the creators of Mortal Kombat designed their own myth. The myth of Mortal Kombat is that the Elder Gods divide the world indifferent realms and decreed that a realm could conquer another realm by defeating the defenders of the respective realm. The Thunder God Raiden is the patron and defender of the Earth Realm. The Earth realm has been defeated nine times in Mortal Kombat and the only chance to preserve them from servitude to the OutWorld is to win the tenth and most crucial Mortal Kombat.

The latest in the Mortal Kombat series, Mortal Kombat 9 is set after the Mortal Kombat Armageddon but is essentially a flashback to the Mortal Kombat Trilogy (the first three Mortal Kombats). The thunder God Raiden is going to die at the hands of the sorcerer Shao Kahn. In his final moments Raiden tries to telepath with his past across time barriers. He sends a spell bound magical amulet to warn and guide the Raiden of the first Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat 9 retells the story of the first three Mortal Kombats with a warned and alert Raiden who has had a premonition of what the future holds unless he takes a different past.

Mortal Kombat is a 2D one on one freestyle fighting that has a history of gore and violence. Each of the characters is designed with utmost care and have some of the finest fighting abilities and moves that can be digitally portrayed. To assist player and to give them a wide Kombat experience Mortal Kombat founders have also launched a Mortal Kombat online portal. You will need an access code to access the Mortal Kombat Online official game. Every pack of Mortal Kombat comes with a Kombat Pass that has to be entered to enter the world of online Mortal KombatThe “Fatality” move of the Mortal Kombat characters grabbed a lot of eyeballs for the technicality and violence. Many people condemned such visuals and the creators in reply to such feedbacks added comic fatality moves (such as the victor handing over flower and wreath to the defeated). These petty issues have never affected gamers much.

Mortal Kombat 9 sold a million copies of PlayStation and Xbox 360 editions in the first month of release. Wondering how popular a game can be? Well Techtree reported Mortal Kombat as one of the reasons why people bought gaming consoles prior to its release.
