Hamilton Beach 33967 Set 'n Forget 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker review

This Christmas I was planning to gift myself a Hamilton Beach 33967 Set ‘n Forget 6-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker and was thoroughly surprised when I unwrapped a present and found a Hamilton Beach Slow cooker. I know it sounds silly but I was as happy as a baby (wink).

What is so special about Hamilton Beach Programmable Slow Cooker?

First of all it is a Slow Cooker. Slow cooking ensures that the flavors and spices are evenly distributed. It cooks at lower temperature than usual cooking methods which prevents scorching of the food. It is especially effective for cooking meat. The slow cooking process causes the tissues to tenderize in the course of the long cooking hours. And the best part is you can “Set ‘n Forget”, it would only add to the taste. You can set the recipe ingredients in the stoneware and go to work. The Cooker would cook the ingredients for the time you select and then automatically switch to “Keep warm” mode.

The Hamilton Beach Set ‘n Forget 6-Quart Slow Cooker uses three modes of cooking— Manual, Timed and Automatic modes. The touchpad control panel on this unit adds further options to customize your cooking experience. You might not learn to fully use all the operations by reading the manual but gradually within one month you will learn. The touch-panel gives you the option to set a constant temperature, to regulate the heat (High/Low/Warm) or to set a countdown timer as your cooking might require.

The Slow Cooker houses a 6- quart stoneware oval pot that can accommodate a 7.5 pounds whole roast, ham or turkey. The Cooker is fitted with a clip tight gasket lid to prevent spillage of the cooked food. To add to your convenience the Hamilton Beach 6-quart Programmable Slow Cooker comes with a clip-on spoon. All these features add to the portability of the appliance.

The feature I liked most in the Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker is the option of probe cooking. It comes with a temperature probe that can be inserted through an opening in the lid. For foods like turkey, ham or large pieces of meat that require a certain temperature to cook properly, the temperature probe is a great help. When the food reaches the required temperature the cooker automatically switches to “Keep warm” mode.

On the whole the Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker is an essential appliance in any kitchen.
